Most users expect OpenAI to achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) by 2025.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask users what they would like the company to develop or improve in 2025. Now, in a follow-up post, he has shared the most popular user requests for the upcoming year.
Altman noted in his post that users did not focus much on the products OpenAI plans to release in 2025 but instead highlighted a wishlist of interesting demands. At the top of the list is Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Most users appear to expect OpenAI to achieve this milestone next year. With the introduction of the O3 model, the company has already made significant strides toward AGI. Given OpenAI’s rapid pace in developing large language models, the official unveiling of the world’s first AGI in 2025 might not be far-fetched.
Users’ Wishlist for OpenAI in 2025
According to Altman, the most requested features and developments for OpenAI in 2025 include:
- Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
- AI Agents
- Better updates for the 4o model
- Improved memory for AI models
- Longer context windows
- A dedicated mode for adult users
- Advanced research capabilities
- Enhanced Sura (text-to-video AI)
- Greater personalization options
Many of these requests align with OpenAI’s roadmap for 2024, although some are yet to be achieved. For instance, in August 2024, OpenAI introduced a beta version of the GPT-4o Long Output model, which supports up to 64,000 tokens—16 times more than the standard GPT-4o model. Still, users continue to request even longer context windows.
Progress and Expectations
About a month ago, OpenAI released the groundbreaking Sura AI for text-to-video conversion, but users are already looking forward to an upgraded version. Another intriguing request is a dedicated adult mode, which would allow users more freedom in interactions with AI while maintaining security considerations.
Overall, 2024 was a year of significant advancements for OpenAI. As the company looks ahead to 2025, it will be exciting to see how it addresses these user demands and what groundbreaking developments it unveils.
