Samsung’s 2025 Refrigerators Use AI for Better Cooling

At CES 2025, Samsung will unveil a refrigerator with an AI-powered cooling system.

Samsung announced the release of its innovative refrigerator featuring “AI Hybrid Cooling Technology” at CES 2025. The company promises that the new refrigerator will provide more efficient and precise cooling compared to traditional refrigerators, thanks to the integration of AI algorithms and an advanced cooling system.

The new refrigerator uses a hybrid cooling system that combines a traditional compressor with a thermoelectric cooler (Peltier). This component works alongside the compressor to meet different needs. For instance, when placing hot food, loading a large volume of items, or experiencing an increase in the internal temperature of the fridge, the thermoelectric component activates to accelerate the cooling process.

According to Samsung, under normal conditions, the refrigerator operates solely with an AI-powered inverter compressor. The new compressor consumes less energy and dynamically optimizes speed through AI algorithms, offering better performance and lower energy consumption compared to Samsung’s traditional F3 compressors.

The thermoelectric cooling component also functions as a heating system, enabling precise temperature control. One of the key features of Samsung’s refrigerator is the Hybrid Precise Cooling system, which claims to minimize temperature fluctuations during automatic defrost cycles, improving food longevity. This technology increases the freshness of items like meat and salmon by up to 40% and 20%, respectively.

The prototype of Samsung’s refrigerator that will be showcased at CES has a 900-liter capacity, and with the addition of the Peltier component, its usable volume increases by 25 liters. The extra space allows for the use of deeper 60mm shelves, boosting the storage capacity by 13.8%.
