YouTube introduces multiplayer mini-games on Playables

It’s available for just two titles right now.

YouTube has taken a big step forward in gaming by introducing YouTube multiplayer mini-games on its in-app platform, Playables. This new feature allows users to connect and compete with other players in real-time, adding an exciting social element to the gaming experience.

Currently, the multiplayer function is limited to a few select games rather than the full catalog of over 100 titles available on YouTube Playables. In an official announcement, YouTube stated, “We’re beginning to test a new multiplayer feature for a few select games on YouTube Playables. Multiplayer on Playables lets you play games in real-time with other users. We’re just getting started testing out new features for YouTube Playables, with more to come in the future.”

At this stage, multiplayer is available on two popular games: Ludo Club and Magic Tiles 3. These games can be played on both desktop and mobile devices, making them accessible to a wide audience.

YouTube first unveiled Playables in September 2023, initially rolling it out to select participants. The platform was later expanded to all Premium subscribers, and by May 2024, it became available to all YouTube users. The Playables library offers a variety of games, including action, sports, trivia, and puzzles, catering to diverse gaming interests.

With the addition of YouTube multiplayer mini-games, the platform continues to innovate and provide new ways for users to engage and interact. As YouTube tests and refines this feature, more multiplayer games are expected to be introduced, promising an even richer gaming experience for its users.
