By activating Apple Intelligence, experience a world of smart and practical features with your iPhone. Stay with us for the steps on how to activate Apple Intelligence.
Activate Apple Intelligence is arguably one of the most exciting features Apple has introduced in recent years. All the latest products released in the second half of 2024 are designed to benefit from Apple Intelligence. Apple has also launched extensive advertising campaigns, focusing heavily on this feature.
In fact, Apple has made significant hardware changes to its new products to easily handle the AI processing required for Apple Intelligence. If your device is eligible to receive Apple Intelligence, follow our guide on how to activate Apple Intelligence.
How to Activate Apple Intelligence
To get started, you need a compatible iPhone. Apple Intelligence is currently only available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. You must also have iOS 18.1 or a later version installed. The features of Apple Intelligence will be released gradually, with some continuing to roll out even in 2025.
In addition to iPhones, Apple Intelligence is accessible on any Mac or iPad equipped with Apple’s silicon chips, as well as the iPad Mini with the A17 Pro chip, as long as macOS 15.1 or iPadOS 18.1 (or later versions) is installed.
Finally, you must set both the system settings and Siri language to a supported language. Currently, the languages supported by Apple Intelligence are: English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Ireland), English (New Zealand), English (South Africa), English (United Kingdom), and English (United States). More languages are expected to be added to this list next year.
The Apple Intelligence feature is not enabled by default and must be activated manually. To start, go to Settings and find the “Apple Intelligence & Siri” option.
On the next screen, click on “Get Apple Intelligence”. Your iPhone (iPad or Mac) will begin downloading the Apple Intelligence language models, which are several gigabytes in size and may take some time.
Activating ChatGPT alongside Apple Intelligence
In iOS 18.2, Apple added integrated support for ChatGPT within Apple Intelligence, so when Apple’s AI processing is unable to answer certain queries, the ChatGPT platform will take over. If Siri cannot answer a question, it will be sent to ChatGPT, and the response will be displayed.
