Google Workspace is rolling out the Gemini AI-powered image generation tool in Google Docs, allowing you to quickly create images for your text. This tool follows the Microsoft Office Clip Art feature.

According to Google, the AI image generator in Docs is available for paid Workspace accounts, including Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium, or Google One AI Premium.

Users can activate the Google Docs image generator by going to the Insert > Image > Help me create an image menu, which opens the “Create an Image” sidebar, where you can enter a description of what you want, and the image will be generated. Additionally, there is a dropdown menu to select the artistic style, offering options like Photography or Sketch. You can choose square, horizontal, or vertical aspect ratios for your images to best fit your design. You can also create cover images that fully cover the page.

The ‘Create an image’ feature uses Google’s latest Imagen 3 image generation model, promising ‘better details, richer lighting, and fewer artifacts’ compared to previous models. The initial version of this feature will be rolled out to some users (Rapid release domains) starting today and will be gradually available to scheduled release users from December 16th .
